The Guarani influence is very present in the area, this shows in most of the names for places, animals and food, but also in the way life goes on inside the marsh. This is also the case with our camp site, Iberá Ruguá, which translates as ‘deep in the waters’.
This is the first of our overnights camp sites inside the marsh, and the closest in distance to Juli Cué port, in the Carambola sistem. This camp complements any stay at La Alondra’i, providing the opportunity to spend a night inside the marsh, in a rustic style cabin with all the basic amenities.
You can arrive here after a short boat ride, but is easily combined with other activities such a horseback riding day, or swimming with horses.
Ibera Rugua can hold up to 4 guests per night, providing rooms, bathrooms with hot water showers.
Iberá Ruguá is the ideal add-on to your stay at La Alondra’i inside the marsh, far from town but maintining some amenities. Several 2 day activities can be combined with an overnight at the cabin.
Iberá Ruguá offers the rustic lodging to complement your stay at La Alondra’i. It can hold up to 4 guests, with 2 bathrooms and a small dinning room, and a gazebo.
Omar is the host at Ibera Rugua. This ‘paisano’ is well known in the area and true example of his culture. With his traditional paisano hat, he knows its way through the wetlands like not many others. Meeting him is a experience by itself.
Without a doubt, the marsh is linked to the Guarani culture. The ‘Mate’, ‘paisanos’ and is history are a big part of the life that it breaths. With ways and customs unique of this place, the ‘estereros’ will offer to show their way, to whoever wants to listen.
